Hello  Members and Friends of the BIRMINGHAM ROCKET BOYS...!!!

I just want to repost this message that our BRB Founder Ron Witherspoon posted earlier:

Hello BRB Members, Sponsors & Friends,

As Founder of the Birmingham Rocket Boys I am proud to say that our fourth annual "Birmingham Blast Off" was a big success. I want to personally thank all of our BRB officers, members, sponsors and friends for helping to make this year's event the best ever. The weather was great as excited and enthusiastic crowds filled our New Georgia Landfill launch sight all day. Kids and their parents came from all over the region to fly rockets with us and I can truly say they had a blast. With the FOX 6 and NBC 13 TV promotional coverage we received, the stage was set for this monumental event which has brought BRB prominent notoriety and recognition in our city and state.

At the launch I was approached by several leaders of local organizations in our city that asked for our club's help in their youth outreach programs. I was inspired, excited and encouraged about their requests because I knew that they wanted our help because they could see something good and positive we are doing to impact our community and youth. Our BRB mission goal of "introducing youth to the wonderful world of science and space through model rocketry" was realized at Saturday's "Blast Off" in a big way. Our desire and drive to reach out to our youth has allowed us to do great things and great things are coming our way.

With our dynamic BRB team of President Randy DeArmen, Vice President George Gassaway, Secretary Blake Driskill, Treasurer David Rowe, Advisor Kim Mitchell, Educational Director Russell Hardy and Media and Personal Relations Manager Steward Jones leading the charge, the "Blast Off" succeeded without a hitch and far exceeded our expectations. While trying to pack up for the day and go home we were still having visitors driving up wanting to fly rockets. It was indeed a great day for BRB and an even greater day for our community. I am proud and honored to have you great BRB officers, members, sponsors and friends supporting this club. God bless you all.

Paying Forward,
Ron

I would like to add that my family and i had a wonderful time... even though I was only able to fly one rocket. It was worth the time and effort to simply talk with many of the visitors that we had come by our lane. We were able to help four first time flyers... it was great to see there faces as their rockets zoomed up into the blue sky. I concur that this was indeed the biggest and best "Blastoff" ever, and I'm already looking forward to next year.

I really want to say congratulations to Rus on level 1!!  We definitely need to put all future blast off dates on the calender now, it sounds like too much fun.
